This advanced-level ophthalmology course is designed for experienced veterinary clinicians aiming to elevate their surgical expertise in delicate ocular procedures. Led by renowned European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ECVO) diplomate Dr. Nunzio D'Anna, the course blends essential theoretical learning with intensive hands-on training.
Participants will operate in 2-person groups, each equipped with their own ophthalmic microscope, phacoemulsification unit, and surgical stations, ensuring an optimal training experience with individual feedback and abundant samples access.

Curriculum
Day 1 · Full Day – Theory Only
● Ophthalmic instrumentation for lens and cataract surgery
● The operating room
● Patient selection: history, systemic evaluation, ophthalmic examination and signalment
● Additional pre-operative diagnostics:gonioscopy, ultrasound and elettroretinography
● Principles of phacoemulsification
Day 2 · Full Day – Theory Only
● Preoperative, perioperative and postoperative therapy
● Preoperative complications
● Surgical approach step by step part
● Intraoperative complications
● Immediate postoperative complications
● Long term postoperative complications
★ Day 3 · Full Day – Theory & Wet Lab
● Surgery for lens instability: subluxated and luxated lens
● Intraoperative and postoperative complications
★ Exercise - Phacoemulsification
(Hands-on practice will be conducted in pairs, with one phacoemulsification machine per group.)
★ Day 4 · Full Day – Theory & Wet Lab
● Anatomy of the posterior segment and types of retinal detachment
● Prophylactic retinopexy
● Surgical procedures for treatment of retinal detachment
★ Exercise - Intraocular Lens Implantation Surgery

Cancellation & Refund Policy
· More than 10 days before the course: 90% of the tuition will be refunded. Within 10 days before the course: Only 50% of the tuition will be refunded. Alternatively, your spot can be transferred to another participant.
· In case of course-related changes (e.g. rescheduling or venue change), a full refund can be requested. No additional compensation will be provided.
· Refunds are typically processed within one month. Thank you for your patience.
· If an invoice is required, please submit your request within 3 months after the course ends. Invoices must be issued within the same calendar year as the tuition payment. No refunds will be processed once an invoice has been issued.
