Course Overview
The EAVSI Advanced Oral Surgery Techniques Hands-on Course is an intensive advanced training program designed for veterinarians seeking to elevate their expertise in small animal oral and maxillofacial surgery. Led by Dr. Mauricio Astúa, the course is structured as 2 days of theory and 2 days of hands-on practice, with ample practical time to ensure strong skill acquisition and real-world application.
The theoretical sessions provide a solid foundation in oral cavity surgical anatomy, advanced tooth extraction techniques, oronasal fistula management, and oral oncology in dogs and cats. Participants will also gain in-depth understanding of mandibulectomy and maxillectomy, including partial, total, lateral, bilateral, and radical procedures, as well as reconstructive flap design following tumor resection.
The hands-on component is the core strength of this course. Small group size ensures personalized guidance and plenty of opportunities for hands-on training, allowing participants to practice complex procedures such as mandibulectomy, maxillectomy, lymphadenectomy, and advanced oral soft tissue surgery under expert supervision.
This hands-on veterinary oral surgery course empowers clinicians to confidently manage complex oral diseases and maxillofacial tumors in advanced clinical practice.
Curriculum

Day 1
· Surgical Anatomy of the Oral Cavity
· Teeth Extractions and flaps & how to manage oronasal fistula
· Tongue, palate, lip and cheek surgery
· Lymphadenectomy
Day 2
· Mandibulectomy
· Maxillectomy
· Oral Neoplasia in Dogs and Cats(oncological surgery)
· Reconstructive surgery (Tips for making flaps after facial tumor resection)
★Day 3 - WET LAB
· Teeth extractions (2 roots, 3 rots, canine)
· Palate surgery
· Glossectomy, cheiloplasty
· Lymphadenectomy
★Day 4 - WET LAB
· Mandibulectomies (rostral, partial) and their flaps
· Total mandibulectomy and their flaps
· Maxillectomies (incisivetomy, lateral, bilateral) and their flaps
· Maxillectomies (lateral caudal, bilateral radical) and their flaps

Cancellation & Refund Policy
· More than 10 days before the course: 90% of the tuition will be refunded. Within 10 days before the course: Only 50% of the tuition will be refunded. Alternatively, your spot can be transferred to another participant.
· In case of course-related changes (e.g. rescheduling or venue change), a full refund can be requested. No additional compensation will be provided.
· Refunds are typically processed within one month. Thank you for your patience.
· If an invoice is required, please submit your request within 3 months after the course ends. Invoices must be issued within the same calendar year as the tuition payment. No refunds will be processed once an invoice has been issued.
